TaylorMade Qi10 Fairway Wood

The Qi10 fairway wood was released to the market in 2024 and is a part of a lineup of three fairway wood options; Tour, Regular, and Max.

The Tour head is built out of titanium as opposed to steel with the Regular and Max heads. It is designed for maximum distance off-the-tee while keeping launch and spin extremely low.

The Tour head is also equipped with an adjustable sliding weight to customize shot shape biases along with a 4-degree loft sleeve that allows players to adjust the loft up or down two degrees.

The Max’s head is created for the player who is looking for maximum distance and playability. It features a longer and lower profile head which raises MOI and lowers CG, helping higher handicap players get the ball into the air and keep the ball in play.

For the main focus of this article, the Regular Qi10 Fairway wood features a blend of these two heads. Half of TaylorMade’s staff players on tour are gaming this head so it is truly for players of any skill level. It features a blend of high launch and low spin which makes it perfect for off-the-tee or into the green.

The Regular Qi10 is available in three, three high-loft, five, seven, and nine-wood models for right-handed players while the three high-loft and nine-wood are unfortunately not available for lefties.

As the loft goes up, head size gets reduced slightly to aid in accuracy. Each club also has a stock swing weight of D3 which we felt gives them a solid feel while still being playable for all types of golfers.

Sound, Look, and Feel

During testing, our team was impressed by the aesthetic appeal of the Qi10 fairway.

Its sleek, classically designed black crown sits perfectly square at address, seamlessly transitioning into a discreet TaylorMade logo positioned in line with the sweet spot, accompanied by a white alignment stripe reminiscent of the driver’s design.

The sole of the club is extremely similar to the hybrid featuring the classy Qi10 logo and some minimalistic design.

The sound and feel were also very solid. It features a high-pitch crack at impact that was very distinct on center strikes while feeling and sounding muted on off-center hits.

Our team also enjoys this kind of feedback from a club and the Qi10 truly delivers in both of these categories.

Forgiveness

As with the rest of the Qi10 series, the regular fairway wood is the most forgiving fairway wood TaylorMade has ever created.

Like its driver counterpart, the Qi10 showcases an infinity carbon crown seamlessly merging into the club face, unlike the Stealth and Stealth 2, which feature a metal strip in between.

This slight reduction in crown weight facilitates a redistribution of weight lower in the club, elevating both the center of gravity (CG) and the moment of inertia (MOI).

Furthermore, the club face size of the Qi10 has been expanded, providing players with a more reassuring setup and enlarged sweet spot for enhanced forgiveness.

After testing this fairway wood ourselves, we can attest that forgiveness is extremely high. We found it easy to get the ball into the air, still got plenty of distance on off-center strikes, and found it easier than ever to keep the ball in play.

Distance

While forgiveness remains the primary focus, TaylorMade has excelled in delivering impressive distance off the tee and from the fairway.

Although our team didn’t experience any huge distance gains, with only a 2-5 yard increase compared to their current fairway woods, they noted that off-center strikes now travel farther and straighter than ever.

Even shots struck low on the face maintain ample speed with minimal spin, thanks to the through-slot speed pocket—a feature that has become synonymous with TaylorMade’s clubs in recent years.

If you’ve currently been using clubs from the past few years, don’t expect a substantial distance boost from the Qi10.

However, our testing reveals that the distance it does offer is more consistently delivered compared to previous models across all face strikes.

Key Technologies

The Qi10 relies on the following key technologies to achieve a high level of sound, feel, forgiveness, and distance.

Thru-Slot Speed Pocket

The thru-slot speed pocket, first introduced in the Stealth series by TaylorMade, is strategically positioned directly behind the face to maintain ball speeds on low face strikes.

Lower strikes often result in excessive spin and a drop in ball speed.

While this remains true with the Qi10, the speed pocket aids in mitigating these effects.

V-Steel Sole

The V-Steel sole is a hallmark feature found in numerous TaylorMade woods and hybrids.
