Best Golf Drivers For Women

Women golfers often struggle to get enough distance from their driver.

However, in recent years, golf manufacturers have made it much easier to gain additional yardage without having to swing faster.

If you are a woman golfer who has not upgraded your driver in 4-5 years, it’s time to take a look at the technology available to you and see if it can make you a more consistent player.

TaylorMade Kalea Premier: Best for Slow Swing Speed

Ping GLe 3 Driver: Best Feel

Titleist TSR2 Driver Womens: Best For Lower Handicapper

Big Bertha Reva: Best For Slice

Cobra Women’s Darkspeed: Best To Increase Distance

TaylorMade Qi10 Max Driver for Women

TaylorMade Qi10 MAX

The TaylorMade Qi10 Max driver is forgiving, has a modern and confidence-inducing top-down look, and it will help you gain a higher launch angle.

The great thing about this Qi10 Max Driver is that it works for any woman golfer from a low handicap to a high handicap.

Technology

The bit thing TaylorMade wanted to accomplish when they released this driver was additional forgiveness. When you get more forgiveness, it’s easy to be aggressive, go after the ball, and hit longer drives.

TaylorMade didn’t leave behind its best technologies with this new driver. They included the Twist Face technology and the Carbon Construction to enhance forgiveness and speed.

Pros

  • Forgiving on off-center hits
  • Very stable club head
  • Confidence-inducing look from the top down

Cons

  • Higher spin rates than others on the market
  • Expensive price tag for the new release

The Bottom Line

If you haven’t updated your driver in the last few years the TaylorMade Qi10 Max Driver is going to be a big change in performance. It’s a forgivng club with a alrge and stable clubhead. We loved the feel and noticed the extra distance almost immediately.

Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast Driver for Women

The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast was surprisingly lightweight, one of the lightest drivers we tested. It’s again built for maximum forgiveness, and you’ll notice this theme in the new release that 2024 has to offer.

Technology

Callaway incorporated their Ai Smart Face technology into this golf driver. They used real player data and had Ai design a face that produces maximum forgiveness without sacrificing speed. It worked.

The club also has a 360 Carbon Chasis that helps you increase your clubhead speed and get some extra distance. The face is very hot, the ball really comes off fast. It wasn’t the softest feeling driver we tried but certainly not harsh.

Pros

  • Lightweight design for increased swing speed
  • Highly forgiving
  • Stable at impact
  • Easy to launch

Cons

  • Primarily for slower swing speed players
  • Not adjustable

Bottom Line

If swing speed tends to be your issue with the driver, the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast will help you get some more. We liked the feel. It felt like it launched really high, but the ball still had a penetrating flight.

TaylorMade Kalea Premier Driver for Women

TaylorMade Kalea Premier Driver for Women

TaylorMade has several options for women golfers. However, this TaylorMade Kalea Premier driver was made specifically for the woman player. It’s lightweight and has the same technology as the new Qi10 Max, but it’s lighter and geared more towards a less experienced player.

Technology

We were impressed with what the TaylorMade Kalea driver had to offer. In the past this club has always been more of a beginner friendly model that was part of the TaylorMade compelte set. Now it seems to be a perfect fit even outside of the set.

The Twist Face technology helps make it forgiving. We really liked the more classic shape and design. It’s a very easy club to hit. However, it does not feel as high tech or impressive coming off the face as the TaylorMade Qi10 Max Driver.

Pros

  • Lightweight and high launching
  • Very straight driver
  • More classic looking design

Cons

  • It is not great for faster swing speed players
  • Designed for the higher handicappers and mid handicappers, not low

Bottom Line

If you want a driver that is easy to control and built specifically for a woman golfer, this is it.

Ping GLe 3 Driver for Women

Ping GLe 3 Driver for Women

Ping is known for having some of the best feeling drivers in the game. The Ping GLe 3 driver is no exception. This is a highly forgiving club with plenty of consistency and a higher launch. If you want something a little different than all the top choices, give this one a try.

Technology

The major benefit of the Ping GLe 3 is that it was built specifically for women players. This isn’t a man’s driver with a lady’s shaft in it. Ping put a fixed back weight in the driver to help optimize the center of gravity, increase launch and improve overall forgiveness.

With the aerodynamic design of the clubhead, you’ll do best if you have swing speeds less than 80 mph. We noticed as we got faster, the clubhead really didn’t produce as much of a benefit; it’s really a great choice for those less than 80.

If you are higher than 80, try the Ping G430 Max 10K

Pros

  • Specifically designed for lower swing speeds
  • High MOi
  • Soft but powerful feel coming off the face

Cons

  • Limited adjustability
  • Not for higher swing speeds

Bottom Line

The Ping GLe 3 is ideal for women golfers with less than 80mph in speed looking for a driver that maximizes forgiveness and enhances launch.

Titleist TSR2 Driver for Women

The Titleist TSR2 is a solid all-around driver built for mid to low handicap women golfers. If you feel like your handicap is dropping and you want a driver that will complement your skills, this is the one to choose.

Technology

The Titleist TSR2 features variable face thickness and an optimized center of gravity. However, our favorite feature is the Titleist SureFit Hosel. Adjustability in a driver’s head is not as heavily favored or looked for in the women’s drivers. However, with this TSR2 you’ll have hte ability to fine tune the clubhead for your needs.

If you are working on trying to lower you handicap over the next few years, the TSR2 is a driver that will grow with you.

Pros

  • Optimized center of gravity
  • Adjustability in the clubhead
  • Variable face thickness

Cons

  • Not as forgiving as other options
  • Certainly not a club just for the woman golfer

Bottom Line

We loved the feel and the consistency on this Titleist TSR2 driver. However, it’s a better driver for a more established player. Women golfers who have mid to low handicaps and care about feel and precision in their drives will find the TSR2 to be a good option.

Callaway Big Bertha Reva Driver for Women

Callaway Big Bertha Reva Driver for Women

If you struggle with the slice, we found the Big Bertha Reva from Callaway to be one of the best choices around. It is very forgiving, has a large sweet spot and an internal draw bias to straighten out your slice.

Technology

Even though the Big Bertha is not in the same line as the Paradym Ai Smoke it still features an A.I. designed face. The face is large, and it optimizes speed and spin to get you more distance. THe weight has been distributed through the clubhead to increase forgiveness.

If you are seven swing thoughts right now and you are trying to figure out how to straighten the driver, swithing to the Big Bertha could be all that you need.

Pros

  • Highly forgiving and a draw bias
  • Easy to launch high
  • Confidence inducing look

Cons

  • Not as long as the Callaway Paradym
  • It won’t be the best fit for golfers who hook the ball

Bottom Line

If you just want a club that is easy to use and does the work for you, give this one a try. It wasn’t our favorite driver on the list, but it does serve a purpose and will help you hit the ball straighter.

Cobra Women’s Darkspeed Driver

Women golfers like to hit long drives too! If you are tired of hearing about the men who gained 10 or 20 yards on their drive and you want a piece of that technology, the Cobra Women’s Darkspeed driver is the perfect solution. You’ll get forgiveness, a sleek looking clubhead but also some of the best distance in teh game.

Technology

The Cobra Darkspeed was one of our favorite drivers throughout testing. It’s highly customizable, helps you get the ball flight you want, and feels great coming off the face. I won’t tell you that this is the most common of the Cobra drivers for women.

Many women like the more lightweight series designed specifically for slower speeds. However, I think this Darkspeed is really worth trying. The distance is impressive, and the sound and feel are just as good.

Here’s a little secret too, Cobra lowers their pricing on their new equipment faster than other companies, so keep an eye out on this one to see if it goes on sale soon.

Pros

  • High forgiveness without losing distance
  • Adjustability
  • Lighter weight shaft undersized grip

Cons

  • Premium price

Bottom Line

If you want distance and a great feel, you’ll find it here. Cobra never gets the attention it deserves for how good its golf drivers are. This club will help you tailor your ball flight with impressive adjustability and get the drive you have always wanted.

Do Women Golfers Need A Women’s Driver?

Women golfers always wonder why some companies make a specific women’s driver and others make one that can work for men or women. There are a few things to keep in mind here.

  • If you are a brand new player or a very slow swing speed golfer, the women-specific technology can help you make up for the slower ball speed you are producing.
  • For better players, it typically makes the most sense to choose the best driver on the market and then have it fitted with the shaft that matches your game
  • If you are taller than average height, sometimes a senior golf driver can be the right fit; it’s a little taller, and the shaft is very similar.

Final Thoughts

At this point you should feel pretty confident in the golf driver options for women golfers.

Whether you are new tot he game or have been playing your entire life, you’ll find one of these new 2024 releases to be a fit.

If you are still struggling with getting off the tee there is just no reason for it, get out there and try some new equipment.
