Cobra AeroJet LS Driver Review

Years ago, I had a Cobra driver, and it was actually one of the best drivers I’ve ever owned. It’s dated now and I didn’t replace it with a Cobra at the time.

However, I do think that the Cobra AeroJet drivers fly under the radar a bit. Cobra makes golf clubs with the average golfer in mind.

They aim to provide accuracy and precision from the tee without sacrificing feel. Here’s a recap of our experience with the Cobra AeroJet LS driver.

Cobra AeroJet LS Driver: TLDR

The Cobra AeroJet LS Driver is highly adjustable, creates low spin and is very stable at impact.

The LS is a great club for the better player looking for more distance and some control over their ball flight.

The benefits of the AeroJet LS can also be found in the AeroJet and AeroJet Max if you are a mid to high handicap player.

Technology

When Cobra came out with the F9 series a few years back they got really into the aerodynamic shaping of their golf club heads.

The idea wasn’t to create a perfectly rounded top down look but instead something that flies through the air with ease.

That’s certainly the case with the AeroJet driver.

  • Advanced aerodynamic shaping and streamlined edges to create a more symmetrical shape
  • PWR-BRIDGE Weighting technology for added flexibility and speed
  • PWRSHELL with H.O.T Face for more stability and increased distance
  • Adjustable weighting to control the flight
  • Carbon crown creates a lightweight feel and adds a bit of forgiveness with a low CG

What Makes The Cobra AeroJet LS Driver Worth It?

We tested the Cobra AeroJet LS driver to see how it compares to other golf drivers on the market, what we liked and what we didn’t like about the club.

There aren’t too many bad things to say about the Aerojet LS; however, it’s not as forgiving as other clubs on the market.

Workability and Control

The AeroJet LS driver from Cobra has very low spin rates coming off the face. Low spin rates make it easier to control the golf ball and keep the ball flight lower. Many lower-handicap golfers are frustrated by the high spin and forgiveness in certain drivers.

It makes it difficult to hit shots that fade or draw on demand.

With the Cobra AeroJet LS, we had no trouble controlling the ball flight, but you had to hit the center.

Great Feel

Feel on the Cobra drivers is great. In addition, the sound of this one is pleasing, lots of positive reinforcement when you make solid contact.

Even with the aerodynamic shaping of the Cobra AeroJet LS the top down look is clean. It’s appealing to lower handicap golfers.

Adjustability

The Cobra drivers were one of the first to bring adjustability to the market, and they haven’t slowed down since. The AeroJet LS Driver is highly adjustable; you can adjust the weights in the clubhead as well as the loft.

The LS comes in a few different lofts, and there is also a 7.5 degree Tour model for the fastest swing speed players that create too much spin and launch on the golf ball.

Fair Pricing

The fair pricing of Cobra and Cleveland clubs is another thing to keep in mind here. Cobra drivers tend to drop in price a little faster than Callaway or TaylorMade. Since the new Dark Speed has been released the pricing on the AeroJet has decreased.

Pros

The next time you use a launch monitor, look at how much spin you are getting from your current driver.

If it’s in the 2500 to 3000 range, that’s great. However, if you are a player who is generating high levels of spin, the Cobra AeroJet LS driver has some strong benefits for you.

  • Low spin and launch for increased workability and control
  • Increased clubhead speed because of aerodynamic shaping
  • Great top down look
  • Impressive ball speeds off the face
  • Adjustable weighting

Cons

The biggest complaint we had with the Cobra AeroJet LS was the forgiveness. It’s really not the most forgiving driver on the market.

To create the lower spin and give the better players the technology they need, the forgiveness is just not as strong.

  • Limited loft options
  • Not overly forgiving

Who Should Play With The Cobra AeroJet LS?

If you are still on the fence about whether or not the Cobra AeroJet LS is the club for you, here are the players we would recommend it for.

Skilled players demanding low spin and launch: the AeroJet LS is the lowest launch profile in the Cobra AeroJet lineup.

Golfers seeking maximum workability and control: with lower spin you can easily control where the ball goes.

Great golfers looking for fair pricing: It’s hard to find a tour level driver for lower handicap golfers with a price tag of less than $400. This is a good option for that.

Cobra AeroJet Lineup – (AeroJet, Max and LS)

If the Aerojet LS isn’t the right fit for your game, there are a few others in the lineup that may work for you. The standard Aerojet is for the average golfer looking for medium launch but a lower level of spin.

The AeroJet Max is for the higher handicap players. With these, you’ll probably be a consistent slicer of the ball. The club offers a good amount of shot shape correction and has a higher ball flight.

Final Thoughts

After our testing of the Cobra AeroJet LS it ended up being one of our favorites for adjustability and the top down look. The driver lets you control the ball. That’s a positive for those who understand how to control their golf shots.

If you are still trying to get the ball to land in the fairway, consider the Cobra AeroJet Max driver. You’ll get some more forgiveness and a higher ball flight. In the end, Cobra offers great value and impressive performance.
