If you are looking for the lightest, easiest to hit driver that can fix your slice, it’s hard to beat the new Cobra Air-X driver.
This is one of the lightest drivers on the market coming in at only 277 grams which is insanely light. It is designed to be extremely forgiving with heel weighting and an offset hosel (or straight neck option) to correct your slice and keep your drives flying straight down the fairway.
The Air X also features a carbon crown which removes an additional two grams of weight from the head. The feel of the club is very solid and the head is very stable even on off-center hits.
If you are a chronic slicer then the offset version could be the one for you as it has 20% more offset to help eliminate (or at least minimize) your slice.
The Cobra Ultralite 50g shaft is designed to be lightweight and has a low kick point for high launch and high spin.
The grip on the driver is the Lamkin REL Microlite Standard which is a very comfortable grip by a top name in the game.
The Cobra Air X Offset driver is fantastic for those who are looking for a forgiving and lightweight driver.
If you are a slicer, then the offset design will help you hit straighter shots and find more fairways. Here are some of the main benefits to this lightweight driver:
- Easy to swing
- Forgiving even with off-center hits
- Higher launch with less spin for more distance
- Comes in two different versions - straight neck and offset.
Cobra Air X Offset Driver
Cobra has been on the market for a while now and has built up a strong reputation in the game. Lately, they’ve had larger product lines to give all types of players different options with any club in the bag.
The Air X is no exception and is one of the best drivers on the market for those with slower swing speeds. There are two versions of the Air X, the Offset and the Straight neck, so there is sure to be one that suits your game.
The driver features a faster face design which helps you hit the ball just as far even when you don’t make center contact. The Air X is available in 9.5°, 10.5° and 11.5° degree loft options and offers a great look, feel and sound.
Just like the Cobra F – Max Offset driver, this Cobra Air X Offset driver is targeted at golfers with slower swing speeds. If you are looking for a light and forgiving driver to help improve your game, I’ve yet to see a better club.
Looks and Feel
The Air X driver comes with a 50-gram Cobra Ultralite 40 shaft which is available in lite, regular, or stiff flex. The low kick point of the shaft also helps to launch the ball high into the air.
It definitely feels like a lightweight shaft and helps to make the club feel very easy to swing.
The grip on the Air X is the Lamkin REL Microlite Standard which is a comfortable and tacky grip that provides good control and feel.
Even the grip is lighter at only 37 grams to make this one of the lightest drivers available.
Performance
With the Cobra Air X Offset, you will notice that the club is set a little closed at the address. Once you get used to it, it is not an issue – plus, seeing the ball not end up in the right trees will also help you get over any address issues quickly.
My initial shots at the driving range were very solid and I was getting a good launch angle averaging around 13°. My average ball speed was 128 mph with a spin rate of around 2500rpm.
The ball was also carrying well and I was consistently hitting it a total of 220 yards on average. As a standard, I hit my own driver around 200–210 yards which means I have gained an extra 10 yards with the Air X.
Initially, I hooked a few shots but after making a few adjustments to my swing, I found the sweet spot and was hitting it straight. Once you get used to it the Cobra Air X Offset driver is very forgiving and will help you hit more fairways.
Plus, don’t forget you can always opt for the straight neck option too.

Technology and Features
This driver is packed with technology to help you improve your game. Let’s have a look at some of the key features that make this unlike any other new driver.
Lightweight Design
The Air X is one of the lightest drivers on the market thanks to its carbon composite construction.
The weight savings were used to create a larger sweet spot and increase MOI for the most forgiveness possible.
The faster face design of the Air X helps you hit the ball further, even when you don’t make center contact.
Carbon Crown
The Carbon Era has officially arrived, and it’s making waves in the golf world.
In order to make the Air X head lighter, Cobra used a lighter-weight carbon composite material in the crown which allowed them to remove two grams of weight from the head.
This makes the driver feel lighter and easier to swing faster, which should increase your clubhead and ball speed. For every one mile per hour extra you swing the club you can gain nearly three extra yards!
Back-Heel Weighting
This feature helps to deliver a higher launch with less spin for more distance. The weight has been placed in the back heel of the club which also helps to improve MOI for more forgiveness on off-center hits.
Offset Design
The Cobra Air X driver comes in two different versions, the standard and offset.
The offset version has 20% more offset which helps to reduce your slice for straighter shots. So if you have a tendency to slice the ball, then this could be the perfect driver for you.
Recommended Alternative Drivers
The Cobra Air-X is a great lightweight driver that can add distance and improve accuracy thanks to its anti-slice technology. But there are a few other drivers that we recommend if you want additional options.
TaylorMade Sim2 MAX D Driver
If you want to minimize your slice, the TaylorMade SIM2 Max D Driver is a great alternative.
It features a large 460cc head with a high MOI design that helps reduce spin and improve accuracy on off-center hits. Plus, it has a draw-bias built-in like the Cobra Air-X to help you square the face at impact to reduce your slice.
Unlike the Cobra driver, this driver also has an adjustable hosel. This allows you to fine-tune your ball flight and find the perfect setting to eliminate your slice and improve trajectory. Plus, since the TaylorMade Stealth and Stealth 2 have been released, the price has dropped on this driver.
Cobra F – Max Airspeed
The older version of the Air-X is the Cobra F-Max Airspeed. It is also one of the lightest drivers on the market which makes it very easy to swing.
The driver also comes in 9.5 ̊,10.5°, 11.5 ̊ lofts and weighs only 285 grams. There are two versions available, the standard and offset.
While the offset look isn’t for everyone, it can do wonders to straighten out your ball flight.
Ping G425 Max Driver
The Ping G425 Max Driver is a forgiving driver that can also help you find more fairways and reduce your slice. Like most new drivers, it features a large 460cc head with a high MOI design that promotes straighter shots and reduces spin on off-center hits.
The driver also has an adjustable hosel that allows you to fine-tune your ball flight and eliminate your slice. Plus, you change the loft and lie angle to make it even more customized to your unique swing.
Additionally, the driver has an internal tungsten weight that helps to increase forgiveness and stability on impact.
Callaway Rogue ST Max
If you are looking for a quality driver which will help you with your slice then the Callaway Rogue ST Max might be a great option for you.
Callaway golf has been on fire lately and the Rogue drivers were some of the best in 2022. They look great from any angle, are adjustable, and have four different heads to choose from. The ST Max model is the best for golfers who want maximum forgiveness and distance off the tee.
Plus, since the new Paradym drivers came out the price has dropped on these incredible drivers.
Final Verdict
The Cobra Air X Offset driver is a fantastic option for those who are looking for a forgiving and lightweight driver. It’s packed with technology to help you improve your tee box game and the offset design will help you hit straighter shots. Or, you can buy the straight neck version if you don’t need as much assistance squaring the club face.
This driver is sleek, easy to use, and high launching; I would recommend this driver to those with slower swing speeds and those who are looking for more forgiveness. If you are a beginner, senior golfer, or high handicapper, then this could be the perfect driver for you.
If you are still not convinced, then I would recommend checking out some of the other drivers on this list. All of them are great options and will definitely help you with your game and most have a built-in draw bias to minimize that pesky slice.
Finding the right driver for your game is key to playing your best golf.
